I am owned by three English Bull Terriers called Peggy, Edna and Billy. You can see Peggy’s photo at the top of this page. I grew up with a range of animals: dogs, cats, rabbits, birds and a pet rat. I lived abroad in my teens working on communal farms, feeding and milking cows, assisting with birthing and even poultry management. I also became a boy, dog rescue operative (unofficial!) helping to find stray dogs, linking them with new owners.
I used to work in London in a demanding and people intensive job, with deadlines; reports; meetings and problems. This meant that my days began early and ended pretty late. So I didn’t get to see much of my girls, except for weekends. I decided to make a complete change; providing a service of the highest quality for pet owners working in the day, going on holiday or otherwise absent. I also undertook the Pet Sitting Certificate course of the Animal Care College.
I know that I cannot replace an owner, but I do provide excellent care, stimulating and quality experiences, with a focus on pet and owner satisfaction. In addition, the products are fun and well made. Like I say, they have been tested on animals: Peggy and Edna! (Their all time favourite is the bubble-gun and the tasty, flavoured bubbles.)
Boredom is to be avoided at all costs for both humans and animals. Leaving pets alone for too long can lead to boredom and/or separation anxiety. These behavioural negatives are real problems in the home: destruction of furniture or possessions, extreme barking, or depression (some symptoms being excessive paw licking, spinning, tail chasing, etc). In turn, this stresses out owners, causes friction in families or with neighbours.
I designed Waggypapa around providing the very best care for your pet, complete accountability, professional competence and 365 days availability. Unlike some services, we do not charge extra for particular holidays (e.g. Christmas, New Year), the fee is the same.
I am extremely careful in how I recruit staff and ensure that they have all been checked through the CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) and have two references and insurance cover. I also conduct in-service training for all staff and Peggy and Edna are willing participants in this part of the work.
If you want to talk through your use of this service please email or phone me. Even if you don’t need it just yet, but have some questions around behaviour, diet or breed specific information, I am always happy to help.
